In 2001 ESU Lebanon developed an association with the Bell Educational Trust in Cambridge. When Frank Bell opened the first Bell Language School in 1965 at Cambridge; his vision was to bring different nationalities closer together through language studies.Nearly 50 years later, Bell International has carried forward his mission with language centres in Europe and Asia. Apart from high levels of personal attention, Bell International can provide tailor made training, on-line support, and specialised intensive summer courses on up to date teaching methods. The ESU Lebanon Scholarship enables two teachers to attend an intensive two- week summer course in Cambridge to refine their teaching methods. Accommodation, tuition, meals and other expenses are covered by ESU Lebanon which can, in some instances, help with travel costs.Potential scholars must first apply before an interview is scheduled. Upon returning from England, these scholars are required to conduct workshops locally so that other colleagues will benefit from their newly acquired knowledge. However, this year (2005), ESU Lebanon intends to reach a wider group of Lebanese teachers by bringing a specialised trainer from Cambridge for one week to conduct intensive workshops. |
