The Shakespeare Globe Theatre Workshops

In 2004, the Head Practitioner of the Shakespeare Globe Theatre, Mr. Adam Coleman, came to Beirut to conduct a four- day series of workshops in association with LAU and the Al Bustan Festival of Arts and Drama.

The aim of these workshops is to offer an interactive exploration of the emotions Shakespeare puts into play, to discover how to interpret them by using our own experiences and comparing them to how Shakespeare enacted them.

The themes focused on love, hate and conflict (based on several of his plays such as Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet). Prior knowledge of the plays is preferable but not essential.

The workshops are fun but also allow participants to explore very deep feelings. They are free and open to anyone over 13 years of age.

In 2005, ESU Lebanon plans to widen their reach by conducting workshops for autistic children.
